Did You Accomplish Your Goals for 2021?

Recently, I was reminded of the book, “Write It Down, Make It Happen: Knowing What You Want And Getting It” by Henriette Anne Klauser.

It prompted the question…

Did You Accomplish Your Goals You Set for 2021?

As of midnight, October 1, 2021, there are exactly 92 days left in the year.

There is still time to move challenges into the win column or at the very least, take the initial steps to accomplish them early next year.

It’s Important to Move Forward

The commitment to growth is just as important as any other asset in your career and life.  You, your team, and family have growth potential. Think about the areas in which you want to grow.  Are certain skills becoming more important to improve your job, advance your career or enhance your life?

Set a deadline to attend your first class, hop on a plane or in the pool.  Then act.

  • Vying for a promotion or different job within your current company? Who do you approach first to learn the essential steps so that you are recognized?  Strategize about your networking within your organization.  Schedule a meeting with the appropriate person(s).  Create the agenda.
  • Thinking about a job change outside the company? Set time limit to complete:
    • your wish list
    • your resume
    • contact a recruiter
  • Increasing your company’s revenue and growing your company is always exciting. Before the end of the year, there is time to hire new employees and develop your recruiting funnel for future hires.  The end of the year is an excellent time to nurture existing customers (get to know them better), as well as look for new opportunities.  While some networking events slow down in these final months, it’s a great time to plan hosting future events and decide which organizations to participate in next year.  There’s no better time to give back to your community and plan continuing socially conscientious programs for 2022 and beyond.
  • October through December is also the perfect time to measure what systems and methods have worked best in 2021, refine them even further.
  • To many, the scale is the dreaded enemy – especially during holiday season. If you haven’t exercised the way you planned or eaten as healthy as you intended this year, maybe a baby-step program will be the way to begin.  It’s probably not wise or good for the ego to indicate you’re going to lose 500 pounds in the next 90 days, or that you’ll run the Jingle Bell marathon if you haven’t walked around the block, but you can schedule time at the gym or create a baby-step program and ask friends to join you.
  • It’s been proven time and time again that an unplugged vacation and sleep are imperative to your success. Did you take the time away?  Get as much sleep as you need?  Why not schedule them both and hold yourself accountable?

Remember what Jim Rohn used to say.   “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan.  And guess what they have planned for you?  Not much.

Make the most of the next 90+ days.
